The International Union of Arab Bankers and the Union of Arab Banks awarded the Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers, Dr. Khaled Hanafy, the "Excellence & Arab Creativity 2020" award, in recognition of his outstanding efforts in promoting Arab-foreign economic cooperation during the year 2020, despite the influence of the "Covid-19" pandemic to the rest of the world.
Union General Secretary Dr. Khaled Hanafy received the award during an attendance ceremony held at the "Movenpick Hotel - Beirut", in the presence of a group of official, banking and economic figures from Lebanon and other Arab countries.
On this occasion, Hanafy thanked the International Union of Arab Bankers and the Union of Arab Banks for this honor, noting that this award is a medal on my chest and means a lot to me as it came from ancient and distinguished destinations, and I receive it in this distinguished Arab capital that was and still is despite all the circumstances that all Arabs are going through, wishing that Lebanon will emerge from its ordeal at the earliest possible opportunity, and hoping that 2021 will be the year of breakthroughs over all Arab countries.
Hanafy considered that "the year 2020 is full of many developments, and the Corona pandemic has affected most of the economies of Arab countries, as all of its location, whether states, individuals or institutions, worked to find solutions that would alleviate the impact of Coronavirus, and we, as the Union of Arab Chambers, worked with the joint Arab and foreign chambers’ community that works under the umbrella of the Union is to lay firm and solid foundations that have contributed to enhancing joint cooperation and overcoming the effects of Coronavirus with the least possible losses.
The Union of Arab Banks also granted the award to a number of prominent Egyptian banking personalities and institutions, where the President of the Federation of Egyptian Banks, Mohamed Mahmoud Al-Atribi, was honored on the occasion of his award of the "Pride of the Arabs 2020", who thanked the Union of Arab Banks for this honor, noting the performance of the Banque Misr team that has made remarkable development in recent years and the solid Egyptian banking sector that faced great challenges in cooperation with the Central Bank has taken 17 initiatives in the Corona crisis.
The Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers participated in the opening of the banking grouping for the year 2020 in Beirut under the title "The risks of sanctions and dealing with critical issues in combating money laundering", at the Movenpick Hotel, organized by the Union of Arab Banks and the International Union of Arab Bankers, in the presence of about 200 banking and economic personalities from all Arab countries.
